STEM is an acronym that stands for Science Technology Engineering Math. Experts say that there will be over a million jobs in STEM related fields in the very near future. Summarize the article and consider how the concept of student-centered learning was/was not involved in the success of the students’ project. Make sure you include the title of the article in your three paragraph blog response."Star Wars" STEM Classes Captures Kids Imagination.
"Kids need to be ready to operate in a world where there will be even more technology." Adam Hearnsberger, 10, was curious to learn about robots and how they worked in the "Star Wars" movies. The home-schooled fifth-grader said he likes being able to make his own droid work. Vincent Tripoli, 9, had attended other STEM Saturday classes, but he was really looking forward to this one because he's such a big fan of "Star Wars."Kids like to learn about the things that they enjoy, But if they do't really enjoy what they are learning they would not be interested. "I like mechanical things because you can program them and make them move and grab things," said Vincent, a third-grader at Southeast Elementary School in Sycamore. "I wanted to learn how the robots in the movie were made, and I'm having a lot of fun today." This kids WANTS to learn more about what he likes and is also having fun while learning. Joseph Brown, 8, of DeKalb already knows he wants to be an engineer someday. The second-grader at Brooks Elementary School said the Jan. 28 class was his third STEM class, and it already was his favorite.

Is Genius Born or Can It Be Learned?Summarize Cloud’s purpose in writing the article. Describe the conclusions he has reached about genius. How can you apply this information to how you approach your own learning and academic life, particularly your Genius Hour Project. For most of its history, the debate over what leads to genius has been dominated by a bitter, binary argument: is it nature or is it nurture, is genius genetically inherited, or are geniuses the products of stimulating and supportive homes? Simonton takes the reasonable position that geniuses are the result of both good genes and good surroundings. His middle-of-the-road stance sets him apart from more ideological proponents like Galton as well as revisionists like Gladwell who argue that dedication and practice, as opposed to raw intelligence, are the most crucial determinants of success.
Personality traits also matter. Simonton writes that geniuses tend to be "open to experience, introverted, hostile, driven, and ambitious." These traits too are inherited, but only partly. They're also shaped by environment. Genius can be very hard to discern, and not just among the young. Express your thoughts on how his views do/do not relate the the concept of Genius Hour. What about Ken Robinson's views do you agree/disagree with? Also, consider HOW Ken Robinson presented his TED Talk. What can you learn from his delivery, organization, and content to help you present OWN TED Talk? His views do relate to Genius Hour because he said that if we just learn what we need to learn we would fidget when we work on it. He also said that if we got to learn what we want to learn that there might not be a large number of drops out each year. I agrees that we should be able to learn about what we want to learn once in a while. That give us the opportunity to expand our knowledge on what interests us the most.
How Geniuses ThinkDescribe the author's interpretation of Genius and how it differs from conventional definition of Genius:
For years, scholars and researchers have tried to study genius by giving its vital statistics. In his 1904 study of genius, Havelock Ellis noted that most geniuses are fathered by men older than 30; had mothers younger than 25 and were usually sickly as children. Other scholars reported that many were celibate, others were fatherless or motherless. What are the shared strategies of geniuses? Geniuses look at problems in many different ways. Geniuses make their thoughts visible. Geniuses produce. Geniuses make novel combinations. Geniuses force relationships. Geniuses think in opposites Geniuses think metaphorically. Geniuses prepare themselves for chance. How does your Genius Hour project encourage you to use some of these strategies? I have to make share that people can learn from the videos and make share that they can understand what I describe when I write how to defend yourself. I would tell the viewer what I thing will work and what will not work and if you could put another move in. I also think that if you learn the moves it is different from actually using the moves in the time of need. You would have to think on instincts. There are a lot of moves that come from simpler moves, so if you don't get the simple move you wont get the harder moves. Summarize the article and explain what you've learned in the article and can be applied to how approach your own Genius Hour Project. The article tells you what genius hour is and that people can choose the topic that they are interested in and want to learn more about their interest.
"With genius hour, failure is an acceptable result and the emphasis is in learning from failure. This allows student to push themselves and take risks. Traditional learning environments do not support that approach." You can learn from failure. I can show people the move to defend themselves and if they don't get it that means I need to find a better way of teaching them the moves. I can apply the this to my blogs as I go throughout and post videos. I'll explain as best as I can and how that I did I well enough, and see if they can do it without thinking. Making a Plan: Detail exactly what you want intend to accomplish with your genius hour project in the month of Oct, Nov, Dec. this is your itinerary for completion of your project by Jan 10 2016What I intend to accomplish in the next few months is to teach people how to defend them selves in a situation. I will go step by step and post videos to help demonstrate the moves the best, and post videos that I think would be the most effective to the other person .
